COMMUNICATION

I was born and spend my first 8 years of my Life in the Southern most part of the Philippines using Tagalog (PILIPINO) Language as the basic communication but other than that we have 3 other dialects more in the area the Ilongo,  Tiroray and the Ilocano (Native Language of my mother)
As a Child I can speak and understand the dialects being used since I have to or not you can't try to play with the kids around the neighborhood.

After my third Grade we went  to Luzon  we are forced to move due to the civil war between Muslims and Christians not good for us to see killings very often. In Luzon I found out that aside from Ilocano and Tagalog dialects we still have other dialects in which I could not really understand it was totally new to me. It was first day in School it was really new to me everything  all the environments the people and since I am the person that can easily adopt to my new environment I was confident enough that i can easily adjust to my new school but my classmates are teasing me and making fun of me since I did not realize that we are using  Ilocano books (native language) not Pilipino or English that I am expecting,  one time i was ask to read a story in Ilocano and my Classmates are all laughing at me giggling and just making fun since I am reading it well but my accent is not really good and they are giving another meaning to each words the way I utter it. I felt so bad and so I seek help and I was advise to read Ilocano more often and was good before the year ends and I finished my third grade with honors.

I was a  Theology student when our Instructor told me to give a message to an outreach program in one of the Community Services and I felt so good there was a huge crowd and people are listening intensively and all of a sudden they are all laughing and giggling I did not realize that the word "billit" (bird) has another meaning to them and we are all Ilocano but just in another province. When I married and stayed in my husband's Town they have another dialect again and so in order to be understood by the old folks I needed to learn their dialects and it was so easy for me to do it since I used the small kids to practice saying their words.   Those are just a few experiences.

Pilipino is our National LAnguage and we have 171 dialects from every Regions and Provinces  being used and English was the Second Language being used for Instructions in Schools since it was the Americans who Introduced Education in the Philippines and the first School teachers are American Protestant Missionaries.

They say that Filipinos are so adventurous and I am one,  I decided to go out from the Philippines went to Macau, China and I am Tutoring Pre Schoolers and I felt so bad that heir spelling was poor that was I am thinking, I am tryting to correct  the spelling of their words and just found out about the difference of the Bristish and American English. Worked in the Chinese family for just a week I am not happy at all I can not understand their Language and I can't even communicate to them very well since they can't talk in English too that was the time that I was so depress and frustrated I try to learn the greeting words in Cantonese but the worse in that their words are all detonated, same words but different meaning it is just the way on how you say it. When I came here in Canada I felt better at least I was able to understand and understood I remember when I first attended the Baby Shower and the host asked if I can understand English I just smiled and say YES.

It is not easy to live a life  if they don't understand you and you to your fellowmen Communication is very Important People needs to communicate in order to express themselves, and most  communication is very important in every relationship in everyday living for a Harmonious living for a Better world instead of laughing or teasing and making fun of fellowmen try to help and understand, what is important you get what is the message and start from there.

I know that you have an experience about communication too in whatever circumstances about the others the meaning and the accent. Discrimination is always there.

Just inspired to write this as I always encounter People with Special needs and could not use there voices to communicate others are using sign language and other form of communication they work hard just for us to understand them.
